I launched /days today.

It is a counter. It says how many days this site has been live, and under it, week by week, what I actually got done in them. Finished work is struck through. Work I did not finish stays open where you can see it. Work I killed says so.

Ramp has something similar at days.ramp.com. One mission statement: days since the company was founded, and a constant reminder that tomorrow is already too late. I needed that reminder more than Ramp does.

This is going to be a vulnerable post. I am writing it for the future me, and maybe for someone out there right now with the same questions.

Why the counter

In a couple of days, my notice ends. The paycheck stops coming in.

Across the last two months of job hunting I have applied to 80+ jobs and taken 15+ unique interviews. Two of them ghosted me. After three rounds with company A, the founder changed his mind and stopped replying. After five rounds with company B, I was asked whether I would work weekends if I joined, no offer was ever shared, and a tentative offer discussion invite never landed in my calendar. That role also required US Eastern hours from India, which means working until 3 or 4 AM.

I have been blaming myself, the market, luck, Saturn Return and everything in between. But among all this, the one thing that cannot be taken away from me is my willingness to show up every day. This time for myself.

I wrote earlier about how I have been job hunting in 2026 and open-sourced the interview agent I built to help others do it. This is the same instinct, pointed at the thing underneath it.

What I think is actually happening

I know I will succeed at some point. I also know I cannot stop there.

A sobering reality is becoming apparent to me: jobs will become more hybrid, more transient, and more volatile. Everyone’s day of reckoning is coming sooner or later. What survives that is knowledge and skill. It can manifest as a destination job, or as solo consulting. I am prepared for both. Inspired by Grow and Convert, I may have caught lightning in a bottle with my brainchild, Grow and Close.

Nothing excites me more than selling. People can say whatever they want, but the ultimate job of marketing, GTM, or whatever name so-called thought leaders cook up next, the job of non-product folks, will invariably be to generate pipeline.

There are only 2 Ps in any company:

  • Pipeline
  • Product

You will either help build, or you will help sell.

The seat

At Stanford, in a View From The Top talk, Chamath Palihapitiya said this:

There’s about 150 people that run the world… They control most of the important assets, they control the money flows… when you get behind the curtain and see how that world works, what you realize is, it is unfairly set up for them and their progeny… I want to break through and be at that table. That’s the first order of business.

Exactly 10 years ago, at 19, I was at the same crossroads. I had the same dream of conquering the world, and to an extent I thought I had done it, going by how my salary progressed. Right now I can see I was optimizing for the wrong metric.

Here is the difference between that number and this one. A salary is a price someone else sets for your time, and it goes up when someone else decides it should. A seat is the ability to decide where the money goes. I spent 10 years optimizing the price. The thing worth optimizing was the decision.

At 29, I am at the same crossroads. The resolve is the same, a little more grounded. I am no longer going to let an employer decide when, how, or whether I am leadership material. I want to work with A+ players, in an A+ environment.

For a broke man, all he has is his resolve, his temperament of approach, and his persistence.

Why a log and not a streak

Motivation is a car with low mileage. Really low mileage.

No one will tell you this, but consistency is not a silver bullet and it is only half the truth. Ticking a box for the sake of ticking a box will eventually make you hate the game itself.

I have been bodybuilding for over a decade. It makes me who I am. The thing I learned there is that iteration is everything, and consistency is the outcome of it, not the input. One day I work chest, the next day arms. The following week it is a different movement on chest day, different weights, different intensity. No two days in the gym are alike. So why live the same day twice?

That is why /days is not a streak counter. Streaks reward showing up. This rewards shipping, and it admits when I did not.

Like the real world, the one true digital estate I own is my website. I have never been a yes-man or a people pleaser, so why dedicate my digital identity to appeasing answer engines and some random anon?

I wrote Miracle-preneuring at 19 to get other people to take some form of entrepreneurial action. I have not taken a cent of royalty from it in 10 years and counting. This website serves the same purpose: say the thing nobody else will say, unfiltered.

Someday it will matter enough to someone else. Today it matters to me.

Onwards.
